low idle

does anyone know the correct idling rpms for 76 merc. 1150. the lowest I can get it is between 1000 and 1100 rpm.<br />thanks

Sounds about right in neutral. Maybe a tad high...

Lowest idle you can adjust for with the idle mixture screws on your carbs? Have you looked at the idle air jets inside the carbs? They may have been replaced during earlier work.
