low oil alarm

I have a 1985 Mercury 150 xr2 and i can drive around at WOT for about 15 to 30mins and stop to fish for a while and then when i start the motor again and take off on plane it starts to beep beep beep (low oil warning) but it's smoking as normal and both remote and motor mount oil tanks are full. If i turn the motor off and then restart it the alarm does not sound. As soon as i hit the throttle it begins to sound agian. Does anyone know why this is happening.

fishonboat<br /><br />I have the same motor you have and my oil inj alarmed at various times for no apparent reason. Never for very long. I decided to remove it and mix myself. That way I know its getting oil, assuming everything else is functioning properly.<br />I figured sooner or later this pump is gonna fail and when it does there goes my engine. I couldn't handle the stress! LOL.

dakk1 <br /><br />Thanks for the reply. I like the idea of not mixing but i may install a new oil pump just for security. No idea as to why this alarm is sounding?
