Low oil alarm?

I am wondering where the low oil alarm horn is located on my 1992 50hp 3 cyl Merc ser#0D163098. I have a alarm horn under the dash that has a purple wire going to one side and I believe a blu/tan going to the other side that is not hooked up. The alarm in the control box is for overheating right? Thanks

Don't have your rig, but my horn, for a different engine, is in the wiring harness. It beeps for low oil and solid blast for overheat. There is an electronic module (on the engine) which determines what goes out for what comes in.

Re: Low oil alarm?

My 50 had the same problem and I traced it back to a float switch in the oil tank. I was told that it should be a beep for oil but mine was solid also. As it was full of oil but the float was sunk I disconected the wire from it and the noise stoped. The switch is a $5 part and I will replace it.
