I have a hummingbird fish-finder. The problem is that the base on the unit to to tall to fit under the windshield. I have a fairly steep slope on my windshield and don't leave much room to mount stuff. I have no room to mount stuff into the dash either. Any know of custom mounts for these units?

take a look at Ram-mounts(tm)...they have literally dozens of different mounts for wide variety of applications. Might be here on iboats, or try bass pro shop or cabelas or west marine.

Most HBs use a tilt-swivel mount that has been around for many years. I have never seen or heard about a low-profile one. The mount is required to hold the unit and provide all electrical connections. It would need to be mounted to any other type mount, such as ram, which will add some additional heigth, but you might be able to come up with a swing-out type solution. If you have dash space HB sells some in dash kits for certain models.

Ok, The solution that I came up with was to mount the GPS into the dash. I moved two gauges from the right side of the cluster. I moved one of the gauges to an empty spot, and relocated the fuel gauge.
