I have a 2005 340 Sea Ray Sundance’s with Mercruiser 6.2 motors with Bravo 3 drives, last season the boat performance was excellent, we properly winterized the boat, spring time performed a major tuneup, consisting of new wires belt cap rotor spark plugs fuel filters to start out the season, the boat performed beautiful for 2 trips then my starboard motor started holding back and was unable to go over 4K RPM no alarms, I thought it was the IAC, so I changed it no difference, drove again and can smell a lot of fumes, motor is consuming more than usual amount of fuel, took out the injectors and had them cleaned no difference, changed the throttle control sensors, no difference, changed the MAP sensors, no change, performed a compression test all cylinders range from 160-175, fuel pressure was 45 so I changed the fuel vacuum, the fuel pump was a little dirty, so we put a new cool cell fuel module and pumps still no charge, took off the drives to see if any blockage nothing there. I’m spending a fortune with this mechanic and I think it could be electric, when I trim my drives I hear electric static in my stereo speakers, I’m at a lose please help thank you.

Sw pressure sensor is another favourite. Sounds like a guardian mode.
Your benifit is that you can swap over parts from the other engine.
I’d start with this and change the cap over just in case. They are total junk things and can fail at any time. New or not.

I forgot to mention that I changed the sensors on both motors and purchased another cap and rotor just to make sure there wasn’t any issues with them. Everything I do to one motor I’m ditto the other twice the expense.

Throttle position sensor and crank sensor are the only two left that cause issues like this then. Try changing them over.

I changed my he throttle sensors, not the crank sensor didn’t think they would cause a high RPM issue. But will try that tomorrow.
