Lower shift cable-adjustment Alpha 1

After hooking up my my shift interrupt switch and trying it out last week--it works! I found out while shifting into reverse from neutral it would stall, so today I adjusted the lower shift cable (it wasn't at exactly 6") so I adjusted it to 6" then turned the barrel 4 turns (per the manual). going into forward no problem, but when going into reverse it would take about 1/4 throttle or more before it would kick into gear. so I readjusted, and it seems much better now, but when the engines off, and in neutral I can free spin the prop in either direction,(yes I know I should be able to spin the prop) I hear a clicking sound -is that okay?

And yes I wanted to try to adjust the cable to see if that corrects the problem before I replace the lower cable.

I'll know for sure tomorrow when I take it out on the water!

Yeah, I figured that's the only way to find out. What about the "click click click" noise when I free spin the prop?

you can adjust the cable and convince yourself that it is working fine when you are on dry land.. but get it out on the water and its a different story.. hopefully you figure it out before you get too far out and can't get back..

Who said anything about convincing myself? Did you actually even read my post?

I am told the click click sound is still a cable issue. However, they do act differently in the water than out. what we did on mine was back in down the ramp on a day when no one was around. Or put it in the water close to the bank. Then adjust it. Mine shifted well in the driveway, but would not trip the shift interrupt properly in the water. A little adjustment fixed it.
