My lower shift cable (engine to outdrive) is froze up. How do I go about replacing it if I can not put the outdrive in forward gear before removing the outdrive? Thanks, Steven

I would trim the drive and cut the cable as close to the drive as possible and turn the shoe and foot with a pair of long needle nose pliers

don't know what drive you have.

assuming alpha1. if you remove the lower only. the shift shaft in the upper will have room to drop out of the way and disengage from the shift shaft in the bell housing. when those two shift shafts are uncoupled, you can remove the drive no matter what gear your in.
