In changing my lower shift cable the 9/16 nut that holds the cable into the bell housing is stripped. Does anyone have any tricks to get this out. First thought is to drill it out but wanted to check here first. I know one wrong move and then its good by bell housing.

I got it out with a little bit of heat, a 14mm socket and a 2' breaker bar. It took alot of pressure to get it to move but job complete.

be sure and chase the threads with the correct tap

it is a NPS tap, not sure of the exact size, been a while since i had to look it up

be sure and coat the threads of the new cable nut with perfect seal to help ease the removal next time
