Lower shift cable - tools needed

Should I purchase the special deep socket for this job? I read a post somewere that I could weld two deep sockets end to end and that would work??? Any issues with how thin the walls of the socket have to be? I was thinking of just buying two cheap sockets from Harbor Freight.

a regular deep socket from lowes will work, i've posted in the past on what i used...
