lower unit 1988 115hp/1972 80hp interchangeable?

will a 1988 115 hp lower unit fit on a 1972 80hp if not what years and Hp will interchage? thanks also will the power trim fit on the 72

If the '88 115HP is an inline six it will likely fit. It is best to try it to make sure.

The gear ratio is likely different, so you will need a new 2" less pitch prop. I do not think the PTT will interchange.
