Long story short they cut and stole my fuel lines over the winter and it looked like they tried to steal my prop. Looks like they wedged a screwdriver in the housing on the top and bottom for some reason? I borrowed lines from my neighbor to test her out and i don't have forward or reverse. The cables are working fine, but nothing is happening in the lower unit?

Any ideas? Was working 100% before this.
Thanks!

Looks like the bearing carrier is broken. The question is why? Is it the work of the bassturds that felt entitled to help themselves to your property or the result of freeze damage? That sucks, but whatever the case you're out of commission without a new bearing carrier at the minimum. If the damage is due to the punk(s) you'll hopefully be able to file an insurance claim. Probably wouldn't be worth it for a new bearing carrier, but a new lower....... Good luck pal. I really hate that.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to post more pictures but the site was a little squirrely the last week or so.
I opened a claim, its at the shop now waiting for an estimate. The damage is the same below it. Why would anyone try to steal a prop like that. The nut was still on the shaft that holds the prop? I think the guy must have been drunk or on drugs because you can see where he tried to cut the gas lines in 2 other spots....not that hard of a task to complete.

Family is really bummed that we are out of commission now....really gives you a bad feeling knowing there are people like this out there.
Thank God he did not just damage a fuel line without me noticing and it would be leaking as we were under way......scary!

That damage is bad enough where you will probably need a new housing (although they can be welded sometimes), BUT It should still shift into gear? Take a close look to see if they cut the shift cable (not throttle), or disconnected the shift rod if it's the accessible type.

I don't think anyone "stole" your stuff (who steals old hoses?). You have an enemy that was trying to keep you off the water IMO.

Yeah it is bizarre. The shop said the bolts holding the lower unit were all loose, the unit has rust water in it and no oil. He said it looked like the unit was sitting in a junk pile outdoors for a while, the 2 do not match up. Said even the water pump had silicone on it. Like this was some POS lower unit that someone half arsed attached to my boat after they stole my unit while it was in our vacation property over the fall/winter. Then for some reason they stuck this one on so nothing would look suspicious.
My lower unit was just serviced last year, new water pump, oil change, the works...was working perfectly
It is too bizarre for words. There are some odd ball locals up there, i guess they wanted a quick buck over the winter....no clue.
Boat will forever be stored at our marina now....not going through this fiasco again.

Holy smokes. That's the most plausible explanation. Unbelievable. Sorry bro. At least you have insurance.
