Lower Unit compatabilities?

I'm getting desperate. Motor will not run above idle speed without jumping out of gear and reverse has been out since I owned it.

I have a 1971 60hp hydro-elec drive. I found a 1971 Evinrude 50hp L/U on ebay.

I was curious if it will work on mine or is more info needed to determine if its a go. If it fits, has anyone dealt with the rerunparts ebay store before?? Any help would be appreciated.

A friend turned my on to Indy boat salvage and I can get a reman LU with core for 500. I guess its better than spending a couple grand on a whole new motor.
Oh well...
