Lower unit Gear lube smells burnt

I just winterized my 2002 Merc 150, and when I drained the lower unit lube it smelled burnt. There wasn't any water or metal flakes in the oil it just smelled burnt. I use the Quick Silver High Performance Gear lube. Should I be concerend? Thanks

It's not burned. Lower unit lub has a very distinctive odor. That's perfectly normal.
