My engine is a 1990 Yamaha 130hp.
The manual calls for Hypoid 90 Gear Lube, but when I went to the boat store they gave me a LubriMatic 80w/90 High Viscosity Gear Lube because on the bottle it says that it is recommended for Yamaha engines.
Is there a difference between the two? Which one would be better for my engine?
Thanks in advance.

On a motor that old I don't think it matters.I just changed the GCL on my 75 and used merc lube.

Any good name brand Hypoid 90 will do the job.

You might try quicksilver gear lube. A little pricey, but good gear oil.
