Lower unit gear oil - 2001 Evinrude 150HP FICHT

I just got the boat about 18 months ago, looking to change the lower unit gear oil, I don’t have the manual or a manual for it (yet), but does anyone have the correct fluid spec's?

I prefer to use OEM fluids if it’s still made versus using a generic or popular brand (Royal Purple, StarBrite, AC Delco etc) if possible. I’ve seen the Johnson Evinrude brand but it’s for the E-Tec’s.

I doubt using special ETEC oil would hurt anything. and it has special emulsifiers to protect from water intrusion

those FICHT gear cases were likely used in ETECs

18 moths is a long time to keep oil oil. Google Evinrude owner's manuals and you will find one. You may have to pay for it.

Evinrude is out of business and so is BRP Evinrude. Google Evinrude oil on Amazon. It's there. Post #2 is a good option, but the product choice may be limited. If you use current Mercury oil most likely a local dealer can fix you up.

dealers still have evinrude oil and parts but any high grade stuff should be fine..

Fear sells a lot more product.
If the seals leak in water ? No Super Better brand of oil is going to provide great protection. Buy the correct weight of gear oil. Billions of oil changes have proven that. Forever At boat marinas every year.

Don't use standard Gear Oils, as the Marine Versions have more EP Additive to help the Tiny Gears(compared to Gears in an Auto/Truck Dif) in the Gearcases survive.
