Normal is to change lubes and filters at end of season so any water doesn't sit all winter and rust or corrode internals. Then just tune for boating season right before you launch so points & plugs (if you have them) don't rust/corrode over winter.

80-90 vis gear lube? in the West we use 90-140.

your lower plug screw should be magnetic and pick up any shavings.
