I went to the local Walmart for some lower unit grease SAE 80-90 Casteroil. There wasn't any on the shelf but they did have a synthetic SAE 75-90. I have a 1994 Evinrude 90hp V4. Should I be using synthetic?

If you buy at WalMart you need to get the Penzoil hi-vis marine lower unit gear lube,or I think they sell the Lubrimatic brand as well.I use their Penzoil brand.

When shopping for lubricant's, you will have to know what you are looking for, grease, and oil are not the same thing. You need the HPF oil as sold by a Bombardier dealer. Jeez! just OMC was so much easier.

Isn't there a difference between HPF and Hi-vis aside from the name? Oh by the way, In North Carolina we call it all grease. If its oily, its grease. We even cook with it don't we 1dwight. Ha! <br />Tim
