Sorry, new to boating and this site. After researching replacing a water pump one here I went ahead and got the parts, removed the L/U, replaced the pump with all new parts, and got it back together.
First time I got it back together it was "locked" in gear. So I took it apart (for the 3rd time) and thought I could see how the gear set-up worked, got it back together and now I have a strange problem. When the control is in FWD the prop will not turn counterclockwise like the manual states, when in Neutral the prop spins in either direction (also like the manual states), BUT when I put it in Reverse it spins all the way in either direction just like Neutral
My manual says it should spin about a 3rd in either direction and then "lock" up. Is that correct? Does it sound like I have no reverse (which is what I'm thinking). Anyone know where I went wrong?
