Hey guys, seems I'm in a quandry. I have a '77 75 hp Evinrude in need of lower unit seals. Here's the problem ; at some point in its life the lower unit was replaced with one from another motor. The problem is that, although the unit interchanges and has worked fine, the are some internal differences (for example, the impeller is the wedge type and I believe the original was the square key type). I took a shot and ordered what I thought might be the right seals off ebay and, although one seal is correct, there were 2 o-rings, neither of which was the large (4 inch or so) that I was really looking for. There is a # on the bearing carrier (332100) that I can find absolutely no reference to, and was wondering how I could positively identify this unit to be sure in ordering seals, etc. Also, there is "70 hp" stamped on the ss plate against the impeller. Thanks for any help!!! :)

Hurry----Run to a boat shop for help.----These online sellers are not that well versed in " motor speak " in my opinion.---Should be easy to find a seal kit.

I know that's an option that I may have to turn towards. Considering how far back they are all backed up, it was sort of a last resort.

Oily black soot may not be a problem with the lower. What does it smell like?
