lower unit lube?

Hi,just got a 64 evinrude 5.5 fisherman would like to know what lower unit lube to use,gas/oil ratio, & spark plugs thanks alot

BRP Hi Vis or equivalent 75-90 weight marine gear oil.

Fuel oil ratio was listed as 50:1 - 87 or 89 US Octane to TC-W3 oil. Many still use 24:1 for this specific motor. http://www.outboard-boat-motor-repa...ohnson 5.5 HP 1954-1964 Tune-Up Procedure.htm

Current recommended plug is the Champion J6C at .030

Any high viscosity ( around SAE 80W90 EP) outboard engine gear oil.

According to Evinrude motors from 64 onwards should run on 50:1 but that is an older design without needle rollers in the crankshaft bearings. I think it would be very wise to treat it as pre 64 model and run on 24:1

Currently recommended plugs are J6C gapped at 0.030"
