Guten Tag!

Ya! Ich haben ein 200hp Johnson Ocean Pro. Oops sorry, slipp'in a little here this A.M.....

I have the above outboard and am fixing to drop the lower unit just before I winterize her. I want to change out the impeller. I'm looking at the Seloc manual for this motor, and they are saying that during reassembly, coat the threads of the lower unit fastening bolts with OMC Gasket Sealing compound, or equivalent product. Shouldn't I be using Anti-Seize on the bolt threads instead???

Also, what is the torque value of the 4 lower unit mounting bolts?

Kindest regards,

-Will in Maryland

That's what my Clymer book says also! Must be to insure no leaks. Torque Value is:
3/8 in. 37-40 FT/LB
7/16 in. 65-70 FT/LB

The compound is to gaurd against corrosion of the bolt threads. Anti sieze is actually a better way to go.

I believe it serves both as anti-corrosion and as a threadlock to kept the bolts from loosening. I think I would go with the manual as my OMC manual also recommends same.

willtill, If you can get some "no oxide " grease it will hold up well in threaded holes and is not easily extruded.Very thick and fibrous.
