I have a 93 Baja with a 454 merc. I was coasting out of the no wake zone and as I powered down the prop quit turning. Any help would be great.

lower unit not engaging

I have a 93 454 mercruiser. I was moving out of the no wake zone and as I began to power up the prop stopped turning and the engine reved. It is hard to shift now. There wasn't a loud noise that I noticed when the prop stopped. Any help would be great.

Re: prop not turning

It's hard to understand exactly what happened..you powered down, then the prop quit turning..but that's what happens when you power down

You'll get a much better response also if you post this in
Mercruiser I/O & Inboard Engines & Outdrives under the Engine Repair & Maintenance threads

Re: prop not turning

If you were still in gear and the prop stopped turning, chances are you spun the hub on the prop. This can be repaired and why I try to always carry a spare prop. It could be something else, but that is where I would look first.

More infromation would sure help. It could also be the coupler. But usually when that goes you can smell the burning rubber.
