The parts breakdown regarding the lower unit fluid, I think is offering a choice between washers and O-rings. If so which is preferable ? O-rings, I have an assortment box (Harbor Freight). Are they suitable?

Those gaskets are biggest cause of lower unit leaks. Why risk it? Get the ones recommended for the job :)

Depends on the plugs. The ones designed for o-rings have a groove for the ring to fit into. The ones for washers are flat where they contact the washer.

Thanks guys. So which set up is preferable ? Washer or O-ring ? That seems like an accident waiting to happen if they have 2 different systems and I can see someone mixing the two.I would switch if one is worth switching to. Lowes/Home Depot is alot more convenient to Fairwinds but I will buy several when I go, to have handy.
