lower unit oil capacity

I have a 2002 4.3 Mercriusier Alpha 1. I have drained the lower unit oil by taking out the screw in the lower unit and emptying the gear lube reservoir located in the engine compartment.

My question is how many ounces of new lower unit gear oil do I need to buy to fill it back up. Mercury high performance gear oil comes in 32oz containers at local store for $13.99.

Ayuh,... You need 2...
The 1st 1 will run out Just before the oil gets to the vent screw....

I like to stop when it's getting, but not yet empty to switch bottles...
That way you don't pump Bubbles into the case...

Using the pump makes the job easier just make sure you pump slowly from the bottom and change the bottle before it runs out.Keep filling untill it comes out the top screw.
