Hey guys got a new boat again, replacing fluid in my lower unit with Amsoil Marine Oil, I have a quick question. I pumped the entire bottle in but couldn't get it to come out the top. It kept spraying back out like the hole between lower and top half was clogged. I know how small it is so my question is if I got get another bottle am I able to start refilling or will air get into the lines now since there was towards the end of the bottle air pockets since I was out of oil...Make sense? Basically I am filling from the bottom as usual, towards the last few pumps I was getting about half the line filled with oil since it was close to empty, still didnt see it coming out of the top hole. So if I go get more and start filling again from the bottom will I be ok or is there a way to releieve the system of any remaining air pockets?

think my A1 took just over a quart...... "It kept spraying back out like the hole between lower and top half was clogged" not sure what that means..........fill hole bottom, vent hole top......pump another in, think your just about to top now...

I meant that as I was filling, It was coming back out the bottom like too much pressure to get it moving to the top hole, i'll try one more but I assume i dont have to worry about air bubbles if towards the end of the oil bottle it its got a little air in the lines as it was trying to pump the last little bit out of the bottom...if that makes sense...air in pump line is what i mean but would assume that is fine just making sure.

They take about 1 2/3 quarts to fill. Don't let air get in the line.

Keep pumping the gear lube until it comes out the upper hole.Since you mentioned pumping a few strokes of air into it ,I would suggest that after you have filled it,give it a few days without running it to give the air a chance to rise to the upper and pull top screw .If nothing comes out of the top hole then pump some lube into the top.I use a plastic syringe that I once used to give my cat some medicine down her throat. You can also use an oiling can etc.Charlie
