Hello Everyone,
I've got a question about lower unit oil. I have the following motors that I am getting ready to change the lower unit oil in:
1957 7.5hp Evinrude Fleetwin
1957 18hp Evinrude Fastwin
1962 10hp Evinrude Sportwin
Normally I use Pennzoil Marine Lower Unit Oil 80W90.
http://www.amazon.com/Pennzoil-62629-Marine-Lower-Lubrication/dp/B000ZKNEJO/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_1
But I couldn't find that in any of the stores I looked at in my area. So, I just bought Valvoline SAE 80W90 Gear Oil.
http://www.amazon.com/Valvoline-VV8...M5YA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1292687340&sr=8-1
So, my question to the experts on here is: Is there any difference between regular 80W90 gear oil vs Marine Lower Unit Oil? Should I go ahead and use the valvoline, or take it back to the store and order some pennzoil Marine Lower Unit Oil?
Thanks,
Bret
