That is what I make when someone strips their threads on the lower unit. In my experience, most have been stripped from cross threading. I normally use a 5/16 or 3/8" fine thread to retap and use a hex drive shoulder bolt. Normally have to turn ( grind the head dia) to fit the c' bore in the lower unit. My local hdwe store has fiber washers in various sizes, but have used O rings with great sucess, but the torgue must be just right !!! The fine thread allows the screw to stay put with less torgue.I’ve been using those for years on my Cobra they are much easier to deal with than the old slot style. The hex head Allen style won’t strip as long as you use the right size….keep in mind there are US size Allen fittings and Metric…
Also ALWAYS replace those white fiber sealing gaskets! They get grooved when tightened & will often leak if reused.
