lower unit on 1996 Johnson 88 spl

guys im in a bind. i have pulled the four bolts for the lower unit and in didnt budge. i tapped it with a rubber mallet seeing if it was just tight from sittin up. then i pulled the lower carb and the bolt fot the shift linkage but cant seem to move any thing. i would appreciate any advice. thanks

There are seven bolts. 5th one = take the trim tab off after you mark it so you can relocate it the same way. 6th one = hidden above the trim tab. 7th one = large bolt in front of the trim tab. Not the small one that holds the zinc anode, the next one forward after that.

Make sure that you have the shift rod disconnected before you take all of the bolts out.

I think that your shift rod is disconnected by pulling the pin and sliding the rod back to starboard. If you took the screw out that had the head facing the boat, you will need to put it back now.

man i appreciate all of your help this qwas the first time to drop the lower unit on my boat i just bought it in Jan. not much experience on boats so your advice sure helped. thanks again
