Lower Unit on an Evinrude

I'm trying to drop the lower unit on a 140 hp 1977 Evinrude. I took the bolts that mount the lower unit and got it to drop about 3/4". Is there a linkage or something preventing it from coming completely out? Is so where?

Shiftrod.Under the lower carb area.Not too pleasant to access.
