Anyone ever had this happen before? The top plug has stripped..I can't back it out and I can't screw it in further..The thing is is that when I was tightening it up, the plug never got hand tight..Someone said something about a heater coil or something?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Matt

Someone will come along and help you shortly. I think when you said heater coil, you meant Heli Coil. These are threaded inserts.

-Jacob

Re: lower unit plug stripped

Texas, Mercury has specific devices designed to fix this problem. I assume Johnson will have a similar device, or one is available for universal application. They are plugs which screw into the original hole (or oversize), which contain a plug. I recommend you check with the dealer.
