Lower Unit problem?

I was cruising at about 15knts when a large wave unexpectedly appeared and launched my 23' Mako uncomfortably far. As soon as I landed I felt my 93' 225 Rude sort of seize up on me--with the throttle at what is usually say 3000rpms, prop speed was quickly slowing down. I throttled back and killed the engine.

When I fired the engine up again, it would fast idle/idle no problem, but stalled out when I tried to go in fwd or reverse. The throttle was very stiff (even with ignition off) and didnt want to move in its full range of motion. Fearing lower unit damage, I left it alone and got towed in. The throttle lever also became very stiff and hard to move. This was the case with the engine on and off.

I'm going to have it checked out later this week, but am nervous and wanted to see if anyone might have a sense of what's going on. Gear/prop shaft issues? Throttle cable issue? It seems that it was related to impact--as though something was jossled. Another possibility I suppose is something wrapped around my prop, but it was too rough to check for something small (there was clearly no lobsterpot line in there, for instance).

Lastly, I'm sure there is no connection, but I should add that I'd replaced the plugs that morning with and installed new ones w/ 1mm gaps, which is what I was told is correct...

Welcome Rogue I !

When you get to it, disconnect the control cables at the engine and operated the controls. See if the stiffness is still there. Manually shift the engine into forward..(engine not running) and operate the throttle at the engine. See what ya' find there.

Re: Lower Unit problem?

Is this to confirm whether it's a cable or engine issue, I presume?

I can do this, but since my boat is 2hrs away it wont be for awhile.

If you were a betting man, what would you think?

Thanks a ton.
