Bought this engine recently knowing it had some issues.
The LU was apart from the motor when i got it and i tried pulling the shift rod up and down but it wouldnt engage either FWRD-NTRL-RVRS.
After some jiggling i managed to lift out the shift rod but it was very hard to see anything down in the gear house.
The bolts are very corroded so it is very difficult to get into the housing.
Is there a way to diagnose what is wrong?
Also when i turn the prop shaft there is a significant clicking noise in the housing, 6 clicks per turn. Is that normal?
I have ordered a Seloc online subscription but living in Norway it may take a couple of weeks to get it. Just want some Iboaters opinion.

Sounds like your gearbox is stuck in forward gear. Does it lock in the opposite direction than it ratchets?, You'll have to pull the lower unit apart to diagnose the total problem, especially if there's corrosion there. You'll need to get a manual before you get into the gearbox. Myself and many others on here could tell you how to take the thing apart, but you really need a book to tell you what your looking at.

Thanks for reply!

OK im just stupid,i thought i needed a CD to use Seloc online but it was all there for me. But i must say that im deeply disappointed about it.
I have a Yamaha manual from Seloc in paper that i am really pleased with.
Lots of pictures and step-by-step instructions.
This Online sh*t doesnt help me at all! Think im gonna claim my money back and order the real stuff instead.
