my friend and i were going down the lake at about 4500 rpms when the prop suddenly stoped spinning on his engine. the engine continued to run fine. upon inspection when we got back to the dock by using the trolling motor it seemed that the prop was very hard to turn in neutral but would not turn at all when in gear with the engine not running. while running it makes a faint clicking noise while trying to go into gear but it does not engage to spin the prop. i will have more info later any suggestions what might of happened? it wasnt fishing line and we did not hit anything. thanks for any advice-adam

sounds like the clutch dog is not engaging
u might need to adjust the shift linkage
could also be forward gear is shot not allowing the clutch dog to engage

as for a diagram what do u need

if this is a saltwater motor it can also mean the shift shaft is rusted away.
have you checked the condition of the gear oil and looked at the drain plug magnet ?
