lower unit question on Merc 850 ?

the shaft on the lower unit that the prop slides on just 'clicks' when you spin it? one direction is more-so than other. is this normal? its sitting on a trailer with prop off. its a I.O. Merc 850. need to know before purchasing. thank you very much. Gene

Rock the shifter at the console back and forth just a little and see if it goes away. May just need a slight adjustment to the shift cable. Iv seen this many, many times.
