I'm going to replace the impeller in my 2003 60HP Merc (Serial Number: 0T680439 Model Number: 1060412AN) and was wondering should I have the motor in forward, N or reverse when removing the lower unit?
My 96 60hp Merc says have it in forward. I always have to reset the shift lever after each replacement and I have done it 5 times. The only caution is make sure you have ALL of the bolts/ nuts out before you try to pull it apart. Mine has one under the zinc skeg. The first time is a bear getting it apart. Good Luck
