lower unit replacement

I just bought a used 115 johnson. It needs a lower unit,(prop shaft is bent) I dont know the year of this motor or the years-horse power of others that will fit I have been searching on ebay just need a little advice mod. J115TLGRD ser.J5959464 can any body help?

OK, it should a 1984 V4 crossflow. Any 20" V4 crossflow or looper gearcase from 1979 & newer will work. The newer ones wont have an O ring on the driveshaft so you'll have to grease the splines every year but they'll work fine.

BTW -- those shafts can be straightened. And they gotta be bent really bad to cause a problem.

It shakes the motor not too bad but enough to cause concern took off prop hope it was a hub but is is not shaft is out of line 1/4 inch or so I would take to a shop but was quoted 800 on the phone (ouch) it would be easy to just swap lower units somthing I have done plenty of

I have a manual coming in a few days might try to see if I can bend it back a little myself before I try to remove shaft and take it to a shop. what do you guys think?

A 1/4" is a bunch. It needs to be out to be straightened. As long as you have the special tools it's a fairly simple job.

I have a hammer and a screwdriver No special tools I guess I will wait for the manual and see what I need

You will need a dial indicator and a press to get that thing straight. Forget the hammer and screw driver ... use them on your car.

Any good machine shop, especially one in a small town that works on farm equipment, can straighten that shaft.

Thanks guys I will be patient and see what tools I will have to buy to get this thing apart as far as stighting I called a few shops mabey 10 bucks if I can get it out.
