Hey guys,
I have a 1965 Evinrude that I have been having some lower unit issues with...
After I changed the lower unit oil last year, this spring, when I drained it, it was very milky. I had the lower unit seals replaced and it still gets milky after changing it.
When I pulled the lower unit, I noticed that in the midsection, there looked to be splotches of grease on the sides...
So my question is--are there seals that need to be replaced other than the ones where the actual clutch dog and gears are? Like seals up close to the powerhead??
Thanks

if its milky it def needs seals and is sucking in water on cooldown,,the evinrude site has diagrams with the seals on it,but only goes down to 68,should be close to the same, also a manual on that motor would be handy for you,,,be sure to check your vent and drain screws for good gaskets, they need to be replaced every time you change the lower unit lube,if you have elec shift, make sure to use type c

Did you do the O ring on the shifter rod? It is often not done.
