lower unit spaghetti seal...

When you replace the seals in the lower unit, is it OK to put a little grease in the slot where the spaghetti seal goes, or should you just put the seal in the slot by itself and bold it together like that?<br /><br />'67 evinrude 9.5 hs<br /><br />thanks.

OMC says to use Adhesive "M" aroung that groove and around the prop shaft bearing head.

I've used Form-A-Gasket Aviation Gasket Sealer with good results, too.... You definitely don't want to put the spaghetti seal in there dry. Use the sealer on all of the surfaces in the unit, including around the o-ring in the rear bearing carrier.<br />- Scott
