Lower unit swap

I'd like to know if someone can tell me if I can take a lower section from a (50373, S/N 5033R) and switch it over to install it on a (5567E, S/N E0004877)
50 to a 55 hp evinrude.

I may have just messed up. I just bought a 55 hp with a small case. Can I put my large case gear box on it from a 50. If not this 55 will not work, it will be too short. I would like to know ASAP if I have to try and cancel this purchase. If it will bolt on to each other I should be fine.
