Lower unit

Is it worth buying a mid 80s<br />50hp with a no good lower unit?<br />it comes with a boat and its cheap.

ps I can hold a wrench the right way around<br />so Im not afraid to try to rebuild.An I looking at 30 to 100 for parts or will it be alot more?

Three, You would be better buying a complete used lower unit, and bolting it on. I would look on eBay for the used unit.<br /><br />Parts needed to fix a LU tend to be gears, which are several hundred dollars each, and bearings which are $50 or more. It is also easier to find entire LU versus used gears and bearings.
