Need a tool to remove the bearing carrier nut on my Yamaha 115 . I can get one from my Yamaha dealer for 150 bucks . Do I have any options ? Can I get one somewhere else cheaper ? I hate to spend that amount on a tool when I don't even know if I will be able to get the bearing carrier out on my own to replace the seals and the tool will be used only once . I tried to get it out with a punch and hammer , no luck . It is not a saltwater motor . Any help appriciate.

Re: lower unit

I made one from Aluminum, but I have access to a Mill and Lathe. Just a eound piece with a hole in the middle and slots cut out with a 10mm cutter.

Probably try boats.net
They only do genuine Yamaha, but seem to be very cheap for parts. They're Cheap enough to make it worthwhile shipping parts express to Ireland.

I replaced all the seals on one of my lower units. The final (S-type) oil seal nearest the prop was very hard to get out.

Had to replace shift Rod and pinion while I was there.

One thing to note: Name sure you refill the oil through the bottom hole and let it vent through the top hole. I missed this bit in the manual and made a big mess on the floor(while swearing a lot).
