Hi All

Please help me! I have a 1991 Force 90hp Model 908A91C and have a crack in the lower unit which is letting in water. Can I have this welded or do I need to replace the lower unit? The engine was running fine at the weekend it was only when I went to replace the prop tonight that i noticed the crack. All advise welcome.

Where is the crack?
It may be repairable/welded.
You may have to completely disassemble it before it is welded.

Can you post a photo?

Re: Lower Unit

Thanks for the help.

I took it to get welded today and was told it couldn't be repaired very well. The one on ebay is ideal apart from the fact that i live in scotland and they wont ship it to scotland so the boat is now out of the water until i can source one over here or find someone that's willing to ship to the UK.

Thanks for the advise

Re: Lower Unit

Hello, Im a new boat guy, but shipping I know very well! Ask the seller if you can have it shipped on your own account! You can go to FEDEX.com and create your own account, as long as that shipper will box it up, you can have it picked up and shipped to your ownself. I looked at that auction and the seller looks like a newbie on Ebay. If he thinks its a scam send him the link to this forum, or tell him that it will be paid in full before pickup, and that all he has to do is hand the box to the FedEx Guy! Ask him for box dimensions and weight and you ready to go!

Wow, that guy want quite a bit for shipping. $80 is a bit high.

These lower units show up on ebay quite often.

You could always have the seller ship it to an iboats member, and then we could ship it to you.

You could ship it to me.

I thought that unit looked a bit rough.

Occasionally an empty gearcase housing will turn up on ebay.
You can transfer your gear set to the new housing. So be on the lookout for one of them.
