I'm removing the lower unit of my VMax 150 to replace the water pump and my question is when I do remove it is the going to be any lines/hoses attached or is it just a shaft?

Thank you in advance

Re: Lower unit

There are no hoses to be removed or shift linkage to be unfastened. Just remove all eight bolts and it should drop down. If it is stuck just rock it from side to side.

When reinstalling make sure the shift rod interfaces with the shift shaft. Use one bolt to hold the lower unit is place and then check it for proper shift function. If all is well then install the rest of the bolts.

Re: Lower unit

Being you don't give the year, you may have the speedo tube to contend with. Later units didn't. Check to see if you have a rubber hose coming out the hole on the front and is there a plastic connector. If so then disconnect it before dropping the lower. If there is no splice there, then it will disconnect itself.

Good point. I over looked that fact.
