I have a 83 35hp evinrude and i've been working on it asking questions and read up on it. I replaced head gadkets, reed gaskets, rebuilt carb and fuel pump. It runs great, in fact it's never run this good. I was flushing it out a couple days ago after an outing and noticed bubble around the lower unit. I don't recall ever seeing this before. Common sence is telling me this is not good.

When testing in a bucket the water must be 6 or 8" above the impeller.

After a closer look, the larger bubbles shown on the port side seem to be normal...the smaller bubbles shown on the starboard side seem to be seeping through the gasket. I'm going to change oil to see if it shows any water in it. I assume if there's a leak it would.

No leak..just exhaust escaping thru mating seam...100% normal
By the way it is bubbling it would have to be exhaust gas pushing thru the seam, any water intake would just go back out the underwater exhaust like the rest does.
