So ..I had a LMS 525c DF installed but head sank. Am now looking at buying an HDS-5 for following reasons:
- if I buy complete unit I can have two transducers so i can install one on my smaller 14' tin boat and switch head unit between boats as needed..
- 3D platinum chip is fine so want to use it again..
- LGC3000 external antenna works fine.
Questions:
- I know I can hook up 3000 antenna to HDS-5 ( as I need an external antenna on my aluminum cabin boat ). Was told I need an expansion port but cannot source the part # ??
- 99% of boating is done in salt water and fishing in less than 300' of water . Which HDS-5 transducer should I get. I think my old one from LMS unite is 50/200. Will the 83/200 be better to install on big boat and move LMS one 50/200 to 14' boat ?
- I am in Vancouver BC and was going to buy the Nautic insight version for the US coastal waters since I will sometimes go to San Juans. Is this best for me ? No lake fishing in US..
