Hello all, I think I deleted my previous post regarding thhe Lowrance sonar unit.I acquired the Lowrance X25 sonar unit complete and in good working order, What I would like to know what transducer is fitted to my boat, could it be the 8 degree salt water unit or the 20 degree fresh water unit,I managed to download a hand book from the Lowrance web site which is very informative but has not got a part number listing and I cant seem to find any marking on the transducer is there any test I can use to find out the cone angle?
Kind regards.

The 8 degree transducer is about 3 times the size of the 20 degree transducer. Back when the X25 was sold they also had a tag tape near the plug on the unit that gave the degrees. The tag is near the transducer plug not where it plugs into unit. The 8 degree is as big or bigger than a standard size mouse. Also the unit uses a 192 Khz transducer not 200KHZ.

Thanks very much for the reply. the unit is quite a large unit and has a sharp bow like surface facing the front of the transducer I think it is about time I bought a new sonar / fishfinder. Something like the X87 Lowrance, it looks like a rugged and easy to use unit.
Thank you,regards William Wright

I actually think the Lms-350 is a much better unit than the X87.
