Carbon does not build up in any spot that does not have combustion (or more accurately incomplete combustion) going on.
So carbon should not build up in the carbs, should only happen in the cylinders and exhaust.
But I get the drift of your thoughts.

I never thought about the need of breaking in a lower unit, as I never had to replace on yet, but I guess the break in hours on a new motor takes care of the power head and the lower unit. I learned something new. Thanks for the info.
Did the unit have a good paint job on it or is that needed after receiving?
Running low speed loads up the carbs with carbon, and I can't blow them out for 5 hours.
