Can I lube the control cables on my evinrude outboard using a compressor by just removing them from the forward controller and leave them attached to the engine? I do not want to remove them completely incase they get out of adjustment.

These factory cables are normally sealed and require no attention.-----Just curious why you ask the question.

They seem to be getting a bit harder to move and I have heard you can oil them using compressed air to make them move easier.

Disconnect them at the motor.-----Operate the control box.-----Is it smooth.----And the motor must be running or propshaft must be turned when shifting your motor.

Add that the control box must be operating smoothly. If in fact the cables are binding, it's a safety issue and they need to be replaced.
