I was on the AMSOIL site earlier today, and found this:

HP Injector Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil (HPI)
Excellent for all outboard motors with a performance emphasis on modern direct fuel injected (DFI) technology. Also recommended for personal watercraft, jet boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles and ATVs. Injector use or 50:1 premix.
NMMA TC-W3, API TC

See Pricing Information or Place an Order

Is the HPI oil now NMMA Certified TC-W3 ? ? ?

NMMA TC-W3, API TC
NMMA TC-W3, API TC
NMMA TC-W3, API TC
NMMA TC-W3, API TC

And near the bottom of the page on the same listing it reads

Use as injection oil or as 50:1 pre-mix (2.6 oz. per U.S. gallon of gas) where NMMA TC-W3 or API TC oils are specified. Compatible with mineral and synthetic TC-W3 type two-cycle oils, however, mixing two-cycle oils should be minimized.

I interpret it as meaning that it will work in engines that carry this oil specification requirement.Just carefully and somewhat deceptively written.Nowhere do I read that 'it' is API TCW-3 certified.

Yeah, this has always been there, and on the bottles.

But there are listing the NMMA and TC-W3, both of which are trademarked and licensed.

Neither NMMA or TC-W3 are listed in the descriptions of their other oils.

It sure looks like they are saying it is tcw3 certified.

I would think that the nmma would be all over this if it is not the case.

I checked on the nmma site, but they don't have a current list of certified oils available. I clicked the link and got nothing.

I have the word from an anonymous insider source that tells me that they didn't pass nmma tc-w3 tests. You might consult TOD on that one tho. Chief

This is the pat answer I always get when I contact them and ask why they don`t Certify there TC-W3 type oils.

Thank you for contacting AMSOIL with your concerns.

"In response to your inquiry, we do not license our 2 Cycle Oil for TC-W3 as its use is not necessary for warranty coverage, it restricts our ability to improve oil quality as new technology is discovered, and many 2 cycle engine manufacturers no longer use TC-W3 as their quality standard as it does not address some of the issues they have on oil performance".

I don't need no stinkin TC-W3 rating. For over 30 years I have used Amsoil 100:1 two cycle oil in every 2 stroke I have owned, including a Kawasaki motor cycle and a 100 hp Evenrude driving a 10 x 30' houseboat. Nothing has ever broken, some things I have owned for 18 years and I've never yet changed any spark plugs in anything (2 cycle) I've owned. They start right up and blow no smoke.

Yeah, Yeah, I know you've heard this story before.;)

Well, I've been using the HPI for about 2 years, but not many gallons.

I was just hoping that it was now rated, so we could stop hearing others tell us it wasn't rated.
