Lubedude was no different in the beginning. <br /><br />You would not think twice about drilling holes in your transom to install a Jack Plate, but since none of you buddies run Smart Tabs - they must not be any good. (Mobster Tabs - Steal The Hole- are designed for the bass boats)And if they did not work then you have holes! It is a problem, but someday one of your buddies will try them and your confidence level will go up. <br /><br />By the way, the reason boats go faster with our product is simple, we allow to prop to do only one thing - propell. It no longer needs to adjust the boat attitude (trim and tilt) or controll the ride. You simply trim to the most efficient bite. Then you also have the ability to change pitch (increase) because the hole shot is handled by the tabs.<br /><br /> <br /><br />

You can tilt motor as high you like as long as:<br />1) you are in control<br />2) you are on trim and not tilt motors<br />3) you have 15 psi min coolant pressure (prefer 20)<br /><br />Other than that, you'll have to trim down for turns (like race boats), and will have a hell of a rooster tale.<br /><br />Best solution is a jack plate - better angle and add 2-3" of pitch w/ surface prop.<br /><br />I have the fastest 18' center console in Charleston, SC @ 67mph. This ia a full console w/ T-top and Yamaha ProV 200 on a jack plate w/ 23 pitch Mirage prop @ 5800 RPM. <br /><br />Its quite a sight - and a bit scary when you pass a porpoise coming up near you @ speed! One of my favorite spot sin 20 miles up the Intracoastal, and I can gettehre fast. My fuel economy is great, and wear&tear is minimal, as I ornammly cruise @ around 4000RPm @ about 45mph.

Look dude all i said that rooster tail is not gaining you any speed and you came back at me. As your friend John said they let your prop propell. Now which is more foward prpulsion the water coming straight out behind the boat, or the water spewing out above the boat? I have never heard of anyone claiming to get 3 or 4 hundred rpms from any combination of snake oils. No manufacturer that I know of makes such claims. I have spent many hours talking boats and oils and have heard no one say they got that kind of increase. So maybe you can see why I am skepical. All you have to do to shut me up is show me the video of the gps showing 65+mph with the huge rooster tail in the background. You said you were going to do that anyway. The reason I brought up the home lake is I believe you challenged me to a race, I just wanted you to know we have some fast water here, and the part about the fish because you asked me the stupid question can I stay on plane at 15mph, why would I want to in a bass boat? <br />John you are partially right about the jack plate, I have one on both the bass boats but neither required drilling any new holes, one is built into the transom by manufacturer, the other uses existing motor mounting holes. Neither of my boats has any trouble finding pad or raising the bow. Now if you can promise me I can get 4mph increase, which usually means 3 or 4 inchs more pitch prop I will bolt a set up by the weekend. I would say I would be your strongest supporter, but I am a sly old fishermen, let them figure it out for themselves. I do have a cruiser with tabs and I believe they help, but they came with the boat so I haven't run without them to compare. <br />KC just watch the water pressure and/or temp gauge, if I trim the merc out too far it will run hotter than it needs to without the prop even venting. I do turn this motor in excess of recommended rpm though. It will tickle 6300 and get there in a hurry with the cupped 23 I run.

I did say I would post a picture of the roostertail, I never said anything about a video, I dont even own a video camera. I only post what I see happen, and its not the first time I have seen this with the switching to synthetics top and bottom. It was about 200 RPMs with two other of my own boats, an 85 and a 75 HP. Only stands to reason it would be a little more with a 150. The 15 Mph is nice if you are going through a narrow channel, my wife likes it about 20 MPH. I never challenged you to a race, I only said what I said about kicking your A*s out of the hole because I believe I could with the Smart Tabs. I said 2-300 with the change to synthetics, and another 100 with the Fuel additive, If you havnt tried it, then I would say, (No I wont say). Anyway, Id say we have to agree to disagree. Im sticking to my story. I have no reason to lie to anyone here, I have nothing to prove and Im not selling anything. I just posted the results as they came. I know that I have gained 8 MPH through all I have done to my boat, and Im very happy about it.

Your correct, most jackplates use the existing holes, but the point was only that once a product is accepted many objections go away. <br /><br />As for a promise of 4 MPH, we simply guaranty your satisfaction, and always have. <br /><br />I do not know what the boat is, how it is rigged,<br />or balanced, but I can promise you better performance. You will have a better hole shot, simply because there will be no hole to get out of. You will then be able to increase the prop pitch, which I strongly recommend because you are corrently over the RPM range, and if the Tabs are adjusted properly you will run another 100 to 150 RPMs. The only way that you will not achieve more top speed is if the pressure adjustment is too high. <br /><br />As for being able to run at 15 MPH (instead of your current minimum plane speed of 21) it simply comes in handy when the waters get rough, or your pulling tubes etc. Two of the side benefits are that the low speed wander goes away, and when you stop the stern does not sink and water does not wash up to the transom - it stops level. Chine walk is eliminated as is porpoising.<br />And we guaranty your satisfaction, always.

You did not promise the performance gains I was asking about. I am not willing to put 14 holes in the transom unless there is some firm garantee of exactly what it will get me in terms of real world speed and rpm. Any way we are taking up KC's thread and should either start another, or maybe email.

Well. here is the latest....<br /><br />Ran the boat yesterday with the 25P Lazer Prop...<br />Topped out at a firm 62mph at 5900 rpm... Trimmed out quite a bit with a good rooster tail, I gained some speed compared to my last run out but not much... Ran very smooth and difinitely up on pad... <br />I thinK I may have reached it's top speed with this prop... I guess I could go to a 26P and gain a few mph, but not much... This boat must be pretty heavy... <br />Any more thoughts????

I can spin a 14,25 X 27P four blade at full up trim, 5,400 RPM, no reason you cant.

Hi KClost<br />A buddy of mine had a 1988 373 Ranger with a 175 Mariner. He ran an indicated 64 at best. This rig was new and we tried several props including a 24 Turbo, 25 Lazer (big diameter 141/4) even a small hub 26 Lazer 2 with partial over the hub. The 25 Lazer would yield 64 at around 5800 and the bow acted if it was glued to the water. The times I ran this rig I would take full tilt in then gradually ad trim till I filt it start losing ground. I just believe that this is all they will go. Another guy had a 87 ranger 370 with a 200 Merc (overpowered) and with a 25 lazer he was indicating 71 (if you believe these speedos)at well over 6000 grand. These old Commanches were excellent boats but not just real fast.
